Dialogue system

  • Studied inspirations related to the dialogue system and narrative of the game.
  • Made mockups and assets for new character animations, character special effects and text effects.
  • Implemented some of the approved proposals using Yarn and Unity.

Game Mechanics

  • Studied in-depth other influential games, documenting the mechanics of each one.
  • Brainstormed, proposed, and paper prototyped mechanics that could be implemented in the game, in order to select the most engaging ones.
  • Organized and thoroughly documented all the information from the references, brainstorming, and prototyping in databases.

Project Insights

What went well

  • I adapted well to the team dynamics, fostering effective collaboration and contributing positively to our project's progress.
  • My contributions proved practical and impactful, as most of the proposals I worked on were considered valuable additions to the game or influential in shaping future iterations and changes.
  • The organization methods and research I employed significantly aided the team, facilitating efficient project management and informed decision-making.

What went wrong

  • Encountered a lack of communication regarding game rules, leading to assumptions that impacted prototype results. Highlighted the importance of clear communication within the team to ensure alignment on project goals and requirements.

What I learned

  • Embraced the challenge of prototyping game mechanics on paper, which encouraged thinking outside the box and provided insights into different creative processes.
  • Learned the value of iterative testing, as ideas may seem promising hypothetically but require prototyping to determine their feasibility and effectiveness.
  • Recognized the significance of maintaining clear communication within the team to ensure everyone is on the same page regarding project details and expectations.
